New Hampshire Name Changes 1837

LAWS OF THE STATE OF NEW HAMPSHIRE
AN ACT to alter the names of certain persons therein mentioned
BE it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in the General Court convened, That from and after the pasage of this act, the several persons herein named shall be called and known by the names which by this act they are respectively allowed to assume, viz:

John S. Tandy of Deering may take the name of John Moody Scott
Clarissa H. Tandy of Deering may take the name of Clarissa H. Scott
Joseph Evans of Somersworth may take the name of of Joseph Montgomery
George Franklin George of Barnstead may take the name of Franklin George
John Davis Norris of Epping may take the name o Joseph Starrett Atherton
Jane Sawyer Witherspoon of Antrim may take the name of Jane Sawyer Atherton
John Lord of Hanover may take the name of John King Lord
Benjamin Flanders of Warner may take the name of Seth Flanders
Aaron Carter of Newtown may take the name of Aaron Clark
Lewis Ingraham Jr. of Franconia may take the name of Lewis Graham
Caroline Melissa Downing of Concord may take the name of Mary Ann Puffer
John Dearborn Jr of Sandbornton may take the name of John Langdon Dearborn
Samuel James Hackett of Meredith may take the name of Samuel James Osgood
Bezaleel Barton of Thornton may take the name of Martin Van Buren Barton
Sally Carlton of Deerfield may take the name of Sally Batchelder
Mary Olive Carlton of Deerfield may take the name of Mary Olive Batchelder
Hannah Augusta Carlton of Deerfield may take the name of Hannah Augusta Bachelder
John Leavitt 4th of Effingham may take the name of John F. Leavitt
Henry Tibbets 2d of Northfield may take the name of George Sullivan Tibbets
William Nute of Jackson may take the name of William Gates
David Lucas Bean of Sutton may take the name of Lucas B. Presey[Pressey]
Jonathan Hunt Norris of Charlestown may take the name of James Hunt Norris
Joseph Meserve of Pittsfield may take the name of Joseph Harvey
Ephraim Farnum Coffin of Boscawen may take the name o Farnum Coffin
Sarah Elizabeth Carlton of Deerfield may take the name of Sarah Elizabeth Batchelder
